IN PICTURES: Anwar al-'Awlaqi

AQAP leaders with two major omissions: the group's amir (senior leader), Nasir "Abu Basir" al-Wihayshi (also transliterated as "al-Wahayshi" & "al-Wuhayshi") and deputy amir, Sa'id al-Shihri. Pictured from left: Fahd al-Qus'o (al-Quso), a wanted suspect in the 2000 attack on the USS Cole destroyer in the port of Aden; senior military commander Qasim al-Raymi (sometimes transliterated as "al-Rimi"), also known as Abu Hurayrah al-San'ani; field commander and former Guantanamo Bay inmate 'Uthman al-Ghamdi; and the radical American Muslim preacher Anwar al-'Awlaqi (also transliterated as "al-'Awlaki" & "al-'Aulaqi").

The artwork in this post was produced by cyber jihadi-takfiris or taken from the media productions of jihadi-takfiri groups such as Al-Qa'ida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). Anwar al-'Awlaqi was killed on September 30 in a U.S. drone missile strike in Yemen. AQAP issued a martyrdom statement for him on October 10. In the three years that I've carefully followed and collected jihadi-takfiri artwork online, I've found relatively little dedicated to al-'Awlaqi. Most of what I've collected or taken from AQAP and other jihadi-takfiri media productions is included here.
