Ramadan: Month of Jihad

"Ramadan...Month of Jihad"

Above is a piece of transnational jihadi-takfiri artwork from my research collection about the Muslim month of Ramadan, the period when Muslims abstain from food, drink, sexual intercourse, and smoking during the daylight hours. Pictured from center left are Al-Qa'ida Central's (AQC) deputy amir (leader) and chief ideologue Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, leaders of the Somali insurgent-jihadi group Harakat al-Shabab al-Mujahideen (Movement of Warrior-Youth), AQC leader Usama bin Laden, founder of Al-Qa'ida in the Land of the Two Rivers/Iraq (AQI) Abu Mus'ab al-Zarqawi, the amir of Al-Qa'ida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) Abu Mus'ab 'Abd al-Wadud (Wadoud, 'Abdel Wadoud), and the amir of the Islamic Emirate of the Caucasus Dokku (Dokka) Umarov.

At the bottom of the cyber poster, modern day "mujahideen" (literally "those who strive" but in this case "warriors of faith") are compared to the Muslim warriors of old on the left-hand side who are holding aloft a flag emblazoned with the Muslim testament of faith (shahada). The modern "mujahideen" are Harakat al-Shabab al-Mujahideen fighters.

"Ramadan...Month of Victories"

Above is a second piece of transnational jihadi-takfiri artwork from my research archive, dedicated to the Shamukh al-Islam (Glory of Islam) Internet forums, a transnational jihadi-takfiri site.
