Al-Qa'ida in the Islamic Maghreb (Qaeda, AQIM) released yesterday an audio eulogy from its leader, Abu Mus'ab 'Abd al-Wadud (Wadoud), whose real name is 'Abd al-Malik Droukdal (Droukdel, Drukdal) for Al-Qa'ida Central's general commander in Afghanistan, Mustafa Abu al-Yazid, via its Al-Andalus media outlet. AQIM operates primarily in Algeria, where it grew out of an earlier insurgent group, the Salafi Group for Preaching and Combat. It also has some presence in Mali, Mauritania, and parts of the Sahara.
